Mary Wheeler Davis Scholarship
Mary Wheeler Davis felt her purpose in life was to improve the quality of life for others, especially to enhance the artistic and cultural environment of all citizens of our community. The family of Mary Wheeler Davis has created a special trust as a memorial to her to be devoted primarily to the promotion of the arts in Spartanburg County by means of scholarships for studies in the performing and visual arts.
Purpose:
This scholarship is intended for Spartanburg County students who are pursuing careers in the performing or visual arts. Scholarships will be awarded between $1,000-$2,000 per student to the college, university, or accredited program of the student's choice. One to three students will be awarded each year.
Eligibility:
Applicants should be high school seniors and residents of Spartanburg County. The applicant should be prepared to enroll in a performing or visual arts related degree at a college, university, or accredited program. All applications will be judged on the basis of artistic potential, community involvement, and financial need.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for this scholarship without regard to age, race, color, ancestry, affectional or sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, nationality, or sex.
