The Mary Wheeler Davis Scholarship is an annual award open to high school seniors from Spartanburg County who are interested in pursuing an undergraduate degree in the visual or performing arts. The selection is based on student character, financial need, and artistic potential, and at least one scholarship of $1,000 is usually awarded. The scholarships are awarded based on the recommendations of a panel of community leaders with interest and expertise in the visual and performing arts. With tuition prices rising and in the midst of a pandemic, this scholarship would help give financial relief and give the recipient a chance of furthering their education.
Students who are looking to partake in a career in the performing and visual arts are heavily encouraged to apply. This would be a great opportunity to showcase talent and demonstrate the artistic capability that we have in Spartanburg.
Interested applicants must submit a resume; letters of recommendation; statements pertaining to career goals, scholarship use, and need; and support materials, such as writing samples, tapes, films, and videos.
