♥ Be our Valentine! ♥

CCC’s leadership has transformed our community and strengthened the cultural sector in dynamic and lasting ways.

We know you love the arts and we are so grateful for your support. We simply cannot do the work we do every day without people like you. We are fundraising to strengthen our operating endowment through the Spartanburg County Foundation's Endowment Challenge.

Have you ever wondered what Spartanburg would look like without the arts? Without CCC’s cultural leadership, our community would have to replace 3 critical programs.

Arts Education

One of our top priorities is making the cultural arts available to children, which is primarily accomplished through our award-winning and long-standing arts education program. In effect, Chapman Cultural Center touches every student in the county by providing a variety of programs that will give them access to the arts. These programs include Muse Machine, artists’ residencies, a student art gallery, and scholarships.

Downtown Programming

Chapman Cultural Center’s Downtown Programming came out of the process of developing goals for the Spartanburg Downtown Cultural District. With goals of increasing pedestrian and visitor activity as well as fostering art and performances in public spaces, the street music was a natural fit. Downtown Programming increases pedestrian traffic, retail sales for local businesses, hospitality revenues, use of downtown parking garages, and diversity of both performing artists and audience. With the support of The Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce and The City of Spartanburg, Chapman Cultural Center is able to foster a unique program for the Downtown Cultural District. Nowhere else in South Carolina are musicians and performers paid to busk at least 8 times a week, and permitted to busk outside of Chapman’s program as well.

Grants & Financial Support

We support individuals and organizations with grants throughout the year. The Community Grants Program awards up to $5,000 per application and is open to both individual artists and non-profits/government agencies. These grants are awarded quarterly and are funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina.

We also award General Operating Support (GOS) grants to local arts, science, history, and cultural organizations with funds that go towards just about anything that helps the organization fulfill its mission. It's not just for projects or programs, but goes towards rent, staff, marketing, office equipment...almost anything the organization needs.

Would you please consider a gift to the Chapman Cultural Center Endowment Fund to ensure the arts are strong and viable for generations to come? Your contribution will be matched 1:1 by the Spartanburg County Foundation.

Please donate online at www.chapmanculturalcenter.org/make-a-donation (be sure to select “Endowment Fund” for the designation), or call the Spartanburg County Foundation at 864-582-0138 and let them know you would like to make a gift (fund #871) to make the arts last forever in Spartanburg County.

We appreciate your consideration!
