About the Grants Program
Chapman Cultural Center's Community Grant Program invests general financial support in cultural projects impacting Spartanburg County communities. The Community Grants Program is funded in part by South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina. Our grants program provides limited funding for cultural projects to nonprofit organizations and professional artists in Spartanburg County. For the purposes of this program, eligible cultural projects are those that actively engage the performing, visual, literary, or folk arts. The maximum grant amount per project is $5,000. Cultural projects eligible for funding include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Small or pilot cultural activities
- New or developing programs
- Organizational development
- Professional development
- Established annual events that serve the special needs of Spartanburg communities
- Special projects of high artistic quality that meet one or more of TAP's goals
