Advocates for Arts and Culture
We take our mission of providing cultural leadership for Spartanburg very seriously. We are committed to making the entire county, Upstate, and all of South Carolina a more culturally inclusive, vibrant, and interesting place to live, work, and visit, and shining a light on the diverse, high-quality art being made in the region. We work with local and state governments, other arts agencies, every school district, colleges, private citizens in every neighborhood, and corporate citizens to make sure that the arts, humanities, and sciences have a seat at the table for all community planning.
Creative Placemaking is where public, private, not-for-profit, and community sectors partner to strategically shape the physical and social character of a neighborhood or town around arts and culture.
Most good creative placemaking grounds itself on distinctive features and capabilities of the community, therefore, it is critical to identify and engage your existing creative assets and creative people.
