5 New(ish) Additions in Spartanburg’s Downtown Cultural District
Spartanburg’s downtown is growing every day it seems like, and a major fuel of growth is happening right in the Downtown Cultural District. The district is about four square blocks from Barnet Park to Spartanburg Community College's downtown campus on Kennedy Street, west on Kennedy to the Grain District, and bordered on its northern edge by the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. It was the second designation awarded in the state and the very first in the Upstate!

The bronze statue of Chaser, the world’s smartest dog, arrived in downtown Spartanburg today. Thanks to the hard work and support of Hub City Animal Project and others, the entire Spartanburg community can soon enjoy the company of the World's Smartest Dog! Surrounded by lush new landscaping, this permanent statue will live on Morgan Square near the clock tower.
Three murals cover the sides of Burrito Hub designed and painted by Wofford College student Ebet Lansing. The first features a large sombrero with the hashtag #SpartanburgSombrero. The second mural is the “Greetings from the Burg” and the third says “Burritos and Tacos,”. "Conveniently located in downtown Spartanburg, Burrito Hub has quickly become one of my favorite places to grab tacos in the hub city. The tacos are reasonably priced, they have the best Elote in Spartanburg, and they have margaritas! Follow them on social media to know when they have specials." - Kidding Around Spartanburg

A downtown local favorite, The Local Hiker, recently opened a craft beer and wine bar inside the popular hiking and outdoor store. The bar is located in the back of the store and offers a variety of craft beer and wine options.
